We analyze nuclear power's contribution to Korean nationaleconomy using input-output model. Presupposing existence of thenuclear power, all existing studies just analyzed changes in thenuclear power's contribution due to change of external conditions. Our contribution to the literature is to analyze absolutecontribution of the nuclear power. The key idea is to assume ahypothetical situation of nuclear power’s nonexistence in the pastperiod and compare with the real economy of the past time. Inthis paper, we developed an input-output model where anindustrial sector's hypothetical nonexistence is assumed andanalyzed the nuclear power's contribution to Korean nationaleconomy by comparing the spillover effects between the twocases of nuclear power’s existence and nonexistence.
본 논문은 과거 시점에 가상적인 원전제로 상황을 설정하고 당시 경제 상황과 비교하는 접근방식을 산업연관모형에 적용하여 원자력발전 운영에 따른 국가경제 기여효과를 분석한다. 분석결과, 가상적인 원전제로 상황에서는 분석 시점별로 GDP가 0.32~0.53%만큼 감소하며 수입은 1.19~1.65% 증가하는 것으로 분석되었다. 또한 1995년 산업연관표에 1997년 환율상승폭을 적용하고2007년 산업연관표에 2008년 환율상승폭을 적용하였을 때 가상적인 원전제로상황에서 각각 0.333% 포인트와 0.106% 포인트만큼 물가상승률이 더 증가하는 것으로 분석되었다. 따라서 원자력발전의 존재는 국가경제의 GDP를 증가시키고 해외수입을 감소시키며 불안정한 글로벌 경제의 충격을 흡수하는 역할을수행하여 온 것으로 나타났다.
