Abstract
The impacts of expansion of E-Business are pervasive and energy sector will not be immune from change. This study, first, outlines the principal ways in which the expansion of E-Business can be expected to influence the energy sector. By utilizing a dynamic CGE model, this study examined the impacts of E-Business on economy and energy consumption. This study also shows that the assumed expansion of E-Business will lead to an increase of gross domestic product and energy consumption level relative to the reference case. It also shows that the industrial structure will be changed by increasing the share of less energy intensive sectors such as service industry. Based on the analysis, this study emphasizes the importance of E-Business for energy policy, because it points to potentially new relationships between economic growth and energy consumption.
